Here's how magnetite can be problematic in heating systems:
Formation of Magnetite Sludge: Over time, the internal components of a heating system, particularly those made of iron or steel, can corrode due to exposure to oxygen and water. This corrosion results in the formation of iron oxide, primarily magnetite (Fe3O4), which appears as a black sludge.

The sludge can accumulate in pipes, radiators, and the boiler itself, creating an insulating layer.
